Hi boys,

Lets talk about the new McLaren and those new exhausts. The web of the Jerez circuit says they are engine exhausts, I don't think so. Any comments?

Good Morning.

If the engine is running on the McLaren I would say no due to the lack of heat distortion of the livery above the exhaust. They could be used to direct radiator exhaust air to the rear wing to get more down force on the rear of the car?

Good Morning.

If they are exhaust outlets the exeting exhaust gasses could be used to pull cooling air through the radiators. Which in turn could create narrower side pods and smaller radiators.

The exhaust outlets are farther back and closer to the car's centerline. These appear to be for the oil rads, I'd guess.

Well Im not aerodynamic genoius but...I dobut thats a exhaust pipe, makes no sense to put one there. I think if anything it is used to lower the sidepod pressures, thus allowing for quicker air release and cooler temps.

For all we know it could be connecting with the undertray as a addition way to relieve pressures under there?

I'll wager they are red herrings--stuff hung on the car to distract other team engineers from looking at the important parts of the new car.

You're on tak. McLaren has been trying things in this area of the sidepod since last season. Also note that there is evidence of having tried this year's exhaust outlets in high angle shots of last year's car.
