I am just imagining it or do all this years cars look longer. They seem to be more distance between the front and rear wheels.
Also it is interesting that most teams are using the periscoped exhaust, which when Ferrari first used everyone said was a waste of time.

Also what is interesting, in about December a few topics on this board was about lower noses on the cars, and from what I have seen most of the cars actually have higher noses.

Ferrari seem to have hightened their nose quite a lot and Mclaren, which usually has one of the lowest noses, have also by the looks of it raised their nose as well.

Jaguar seem the only team that has a relitively lowing nose.

Finaly, every new car I have seen so far has the front wing roughly parallel to the ground, ie it is not on any significant angle, except if you have a look at the prost car from side view. You can see that the front wing is on a roughly 15 degree angle. I saw this in the launch pictures, but can't seem to find them now, they were on the prostgp site. Damn I hate when that happens.

As I said at my opening, am I just imagining

here are the car lengths for a few of the new cars, can anyone tell me if they are longer than last year

B200 - Not Stated
FW22 - 4540 mm
F1-2000 - 4,387 mm wheelbase - 3,010 mm
Ferrari also state 770 BHP, I doubt any could take this seriously
AP03 - Not Stated
C19 - 4.410 mm wheelbase- 3.020 mm
EJ10 - 4550mm wheelbase 3050mm
MP4-15 - Not stated
BAR02 - Not Stated

I dont know much about the technical stuff but the pictures of cars that you are looking seem to be from the launches but as far as i know the cars that they used last year are often repainted for the next season for display even though the componets are out of date they are still being used so the Jaguar that seemed to have a low nose could be a repainted Stewart

If a team is looking for front end grip, an easy way to get it is to extend the front wing farther forward. So it is possible that noses are getting longer. I also believe that the wheelbase of the cars will change depending on the venue. A slow track like Monaco will favor a shorter wheelbase that lets the car turn faster. A fast track lick Hockenheim will need a longer wheelbase for stability. CART cars definitley run longer wheelbases at the super speedways, but I have no idea what the change in length is.
Lastly, (and to fuel the specualtion fires) the high nose/low nose deal has to do with how you feed air to the radiators. Perhaps we can speculate that the 2000 MB engine makes so much power that Mclaren had to raise the nose to feed additional clean air to the radiators? (probably not, but what the heck!)

MGPowell.

Last year McLaren did run a longer wheel base and Ferrari is running it this year. I believe that it let's the driver's cockpit to be moved forward for better car balance?
