How do you calculate frontal area?

Sorry for the multiple questions....

How do you calculate frontal area? What part of the car is considered the "frontal section?"

Maybe with a laser. Seriously, I can't think of any simple way to calculate the frontal area of a complex shape like a car. Every time I think I have it figured out, I think of a reason why it wouldn't work.

Draw it to scale on graph paper, then count the squares occupied by the bits of car - and the half squares and part-squares, then do your calculations...
