So, is it a different version of CO2 or the same CO2? The CO2 the termites emit was also trapped before release - when trapped, in essence locked away and harmless, it is then released, but by a different methed.

The thing about termites is social media folklore (with a possible origin at the Petroleum Institute).

Termites process materials already in the atmospheric cycle. Since trees must always decompose regardless, the CO2 increase is net zero.

Humans, on the other hand, take fossil fuels from deep underground, burning them as hydrocarbons and pumping the effluent into the atmosphere.

Producing far more CO2 emissions in any event.

Since you missed it first time, I have changed the relevant phrase to red font.

Globally cars produce far less CO2 than termites - Kill all the termites then we will be OK...

We're trying.

I recall some scientist saying we could eradicate mosquitos with some clever genetic engineering. Apparently however, that would be the end of a large number of fish species whose fry rely on mosquito larvae for survival.
