Just asking our Antipodean members if they can shed some light. I've come across the above named racers and would like to know if these were locally-built or simply renamed (like Black Jack and the Cooper/Redex Special). The Regah looks for all the world like a Lotus XV and the Thompson like a Lola Mk 1. Are they in fact just renamed or a product of moulds being taken from the UK sources and then produced in GRP?

The Regah MG was made out of crashed MG TD I believe and uses a locally made Lotus 11 copy body. Not sure what the chassis is.

The Thompson Ford is Lola Mk1 copy made by Hedley Thompson (ace welder and head of apprentices at Trans Australia Airways (TAA). The Lola was owned by David McKay and crashed and Hedley built a new chassis. I understand that the old chassis was repaired and used in the Thompson Ford. This copy is probable more Loa than most reps.

David Crabtree may be able to provide some info on the Thompson as he was a TAA apprentice and helped build the car.
