Does anyone have race programmes and results from these two events?  Reason for asking:  I own a Marcos Fastback that was driven by Alfred Pope.  Some five years ago (or so) we had some contact and he kindly sent me his driver's badges from these two events and also a couple of action photos (not necessarily from the same events, since he also raced on other tracks).  Unfortuately, he had no records of his results.  One reason for my asking is that I want to prove (not only from his word) that the car ran with a 1.6 litre engine.

Is it is possible for you to share the relevant part of that report?

Alfred Pope sent those two photos to me, but he could not remember where they were taken.  I attach two more, which I have received from other sources.  One is said to be from Castle Combe in June 1964.  I asked Alfred about the paddock picture and he thinks it might be from Snetterton.

This is what Alfred wrote in an email to me:

"Hello Lars -Goran  Many thanks for your most interesting email on my old Marcos which I purchased new from Marcos at Bradford on Avon was originally a light fluorescent blue. It originally had a 1600 Ford engine modified by Ted Martina 4-speed gearbox and the optional Ford rear axle and was raced probably 20 times.  It's first race was at Oulton Park where unfortunately I went off at the Esso bend and bounced off the Esso sign which had to be rebuilt. This was a regular occurrence and I can recall that a motor cyclist went through the sign the following weekend  hitting a tree and was unfortunately killed.  Oulton Park no longer has that bend!  My second race was at Castle Combe where I found that the exhaust under the passenger side was too close to the timber chassis and had to stop to sort out before the car caught fire.  I won the up to 2000 cc class as far as I recall.  At the time there was a very successful Marcos racer called Peter Brayshaw whom owned a garage business in Leicester so I delivered the car to him.  I decided  to race the short circuit and after a couple of laps the new water pump failed and overheated the engine having set the fastest lap in my class jointly with a Diva  I decided to sell but have no idea now whom purchased.  Not sure where photos of the car are but will look and forward copies to you via the post if I have your address."

This photograph would confirm that #18 is at Mallory Park:

Link won't work — see Mallory Park, 1964 — at Revs.

When?

There was a B.A.R.C. East Midlands Centre sprint at Mallory Park, Sunday 5 April 1964.

I see the average speeds are calculated on the assumption that the lap length was exactly 2.25  miles.

Eventually, they did a more accurate measurement and found it was around 2.17 miles, about 140 yards shorter than originally supposed.  Motorcycles have a chicane which adds a few yards.

Likewise, the original circuit was said to be three-quarters of a mile although have also seen "around seven-tenths of a mile".  Lap speeds assumed it was 0.75 miles when it was actually about 0.66 miles.

One wonders if other tracks had such haphazard lap distances.

Thank you.  I have been looking for something showing that the engine was actually larger than 1600 cc.  Could be important for the paperwork once I get into building an engine for it.
