Attached for interest is an ad for this car..

It competed in the 1961 Australian Grand Prix, driven by Keith Rilstone. It retired after 33 laps of the 50 lap race.

Things are getting worse all the time...

Not only didn't Rilstone drive it in the AGP, neither did Noel Hurd. The mysterious Noel Heard mentioned in the advertising as having done so wouldn't have either.

The Elfin Zephyr Special for sale and '61 AGP Eldred Norman & Keith Rilstone Zephyr Special are two completely different vehicles.

Yes, that car's 'official' name was "Norholfordor'...

Built by Eldred Norman using a Holden front crossmember and suspension, a Ford (Zephyr) engine and a Tempo Matador transmission.

There were two cars entered as simply "Zephyr Special" in the 1961 Australian Grand Prix.

The first entered by Noel Hurd failed to qualify so did not start the AGP.

The second driven by Keith Rilstone qualified in 7th position for the AGP. As noted above it retired after 33 laps of the 50 lap race.

The Elfin one was the one that Noel Hurd had until his death?

The other was the Eldred Norman one and a different car. Though from my recollection both had FJ Holden front ends?

And one had 6 stubs and the other more normal extractors. This for cars I have seen as historics in the last 30 years.

The owner of the one with the stub exhausts would not race it any other way so it got parked.

That isn't the reason Graeme Snape doesn't do much with it any more...

It's the fact that, with it running on an alcohol fuel, it's required under the CAMS (MSA) rules to have an 'A' near its number. He says it didn't need it when it ran in period, it shouldn't have it now.

He had six little mufflers made for the individual exhausts.
