copied from Steve McQueen, 'Day of the Champion', Warner Bros - The Nostalgia Forum - The Autosport Forums
which might still work.
"Background article and promise of a feature in the Feb 2020 issue of MS
Steve McQueen: The Lost Movie review — 'Sensational footage of F1 from 1965' - Motor Sport Magazine
The linked article contains a reference to Sir Stirling Moss recording laps around the Nurburgring just after the 1965 German GP, driving Walker's Brabham BRM. I wonder what his lap times were ?"
Going back to a couple of things on the last page:- Bruce McLaren had a speaking part in the film, at the Spa drivers' meeting; and Francoise Hardy seems to have recovered from her latest health issue according to the latest I've seen.
And here are a couple of photos which seem to confirm the older gentleman was James Garner's father:
In other news (as they say), I recently saw another documentary on Netflix about the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hours, and there was brief footage of Enzo Ferrari talking to Adolfo Celli.
Belatedly, RIP Antonio Sabato - here is a still from a presumably deleted scene:

For Françoise Hardy enthusiasts, who can access BBC Radio 4 Extra, there's a re-run today of John Andrew's 2011 programme 'Falling for Françoise'.
15.30 - 16.00 : 'John Andrew visits Paris to retrace his teenage fascination with French singer Françoise Hardy, who is interviewed'. It's already available on BBC Sounds, and will be there for another three weeks.
Sadly, no evidence of anything similar for Eva, Jessica, James, Yves, Brian etc.........

Interesting photos!
In the first one, the meeting, is that Jo Schlesser front right? Guy Ligier in front of the double doors? Who is it right at the back, looking to one side? And any one we know peeping over Graham's shoulder?

Bernard Cahier?
Posted 15 March 2021 - 14:17
Bernard Cahier?
No, young Denny Hulme. Cahier was in the scene, yet on the other side of this room wearing a tie.
Schlesser, Ligier and Frere all there!

And more sad news for "Grand Prix" fans: Jessica Walter, who played Pat Stoddard, the wife of Scott Stoddard (Brian Bedford), has died at age 80.
https://www.hollywoo...-was-80-1262068
She was primarily known for her TV roles, many of the obituaries omit any mention of her role in Grand Prix.
I believe that leaves Eva-Marie Saint and Francoise Hardy as the only members of the principal cast still alive.

Arjan, I've just cheated and had a look on YouTube where the complete film can be found. The drivers' meeting is at 1.27.40 and, as you say, Bernard Cahier is on the other side of the room with Yves Montand, Phil Hill, Richie Ginther, Mike Spence and, I think, Bob Bondurant. I looked for a few seconds at the mystery man back left of the main room, convinced myself it wasn't Denny, then he turned his head and the profile was clear. Definitely Mr. Hulme. He looks so young!

It is a great scene, is it not? I watched this movie too often.. One consolation is that the tracks (somewhat) remain.

It depends how you define principal cast, but Genevieve Page, who played Monique Delvaux-Sarti, is still with us at the age of 93.

RIP Jessica Walter, a very good actress; here are some images from Monza:
and one from the paddock:
As well as Eva-Marie Saint (96), Francoise Hardy (77) and Genevieve Page (93), the other actor still with us is Donal O'Brien who is 90 - he is mistakenly listed on Wiki as having passed away in 2003 but his nephew confirmed he is still alive (Dec.2020) and lives in Paris. He is sitting between Jessica Walter and Adolfo Celi in the second photo; he played the team manager of Jordan-BRM.
Of the drivers who appeared in the film, only Bob Bondurant is still with us.

It wasn't till many years later that I learned what she must have felt like just then.

I had forgotten in the list of actors still with us that John Fraankenheimer's widow, Evans Evans, who played Mrs Randolph and has a line at the post-Monaco party is still around, now aged 84. I believe this is her on the pit wall at Spa:

Françoise Hardy is in fairly ill health, though. She's suffering from cancer of the pharynx and cannot sign any more. She is openly talking about asking for euthasia in interviews, but says thatthe laws in France are 'inhumane':

How quaint that Ouzo would have been considered such a potent intoxicant. If she'd hung out with James Hunt 10 years later, it would have been cocaine and God-knows-what-else.

Here we are again...
There were a couple of locations still to be identified or located from a couple of years ago - I believe I have nailed them all now, but here is a simple one to start with.
The picture on the wall of the Yamura base (said to be near Silverstone but actually the Cooper works in Byfleet) was actually the Honda R & D facility in Japan - scroll to the bottom of this page.
Honda Global | The R&D Center Goes Independent / 1960
And entirely seperately, here is a link to a magazine from 1966 which gives many of the pages of a revealing article about the MGM/Warner rivalry that year:

Here's an interesting picture of a parade float promo in NY. - Francoise Hardy and Jack Brabham are on the float!
The stated date is Dec. 1966, but Nov seems more likely as part of the Macy's Parade.
